Patient Care

OUTPATIENT CENTERS

Stony Brook is truly a medical center without walls. Surgical patients can be seen by our physicians at not only the Stony Brook University Medical Center, but also can be seen at our satellite facilities in East Setauket and Hampton Bays.

Our Surgical Care Center in East Setauket (map/directions) enables us to provide a wide range of outpatient and ambulatory care for adults and children (except cardiac and transplant patients). It is a "patient friendly" facility which houses state-of-the-art equipment, procedure and recovery units to support diagnostic and minor surgical intervention, consultation and exam suites, and support services.

Also in East Setauket, our Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center (map/directions) enables us to provide all our cosmetic services plus vein treatments. An aesthetician is there as well, to do facials, chemical peels, micro-dermabrasion, and other procedures. Our Vein Center is located there, too.

Opened in May 2010, our Smithtown Office (map/directions) enables us to provide consultation services in breast surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, colorectal surgery, general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and wound care.

The Stony Brook Outpatient Services Center in Hampton Bays (map/directions) enables us to provide consultation services in a variety of specialized areas, including gastrointestinal, pediatric, and vascular surgery, as well as general surgery. Many outpatient procedures are performed on site, and patients requiring admission to University Medical Center for more complex procedures may receive all pre- and post-operative care at the Outpatient Services Center in Hampton Bays.

Women who need to be seen by a member of our breast care service can visit either the Outpatient Services Center in Hampton Bays, or the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center in Stony Brook (map/directions).
