SURGICAL SELECTIVES: VASCULAR SURGERY

Objective

To introduce the fourth year student to the basic clinical practice of vascular surgery. There will be exposure to a broad range of vascular pathology. The student will participate on daily rounds, operative procedures and attend all clinical conferences (see below). By the end of the two week course, the student should feel comfortable with a basic knowledge in the clinical approach to vascular pathology and pathophysiology.

Schedule

The first day of the rotation: Page the vascular fellow on the first day after your introductory meeting.

Each day's events will be decided by the clinical vascular fellow and may include observing in the operating room, participating in office hours or taking care of inpatients.

Evaluation

Grading is based on clinical performance. Participation on rounds, the OR, and office hours will be used. Attendings, fellows and residents are involved in the clinical evaluation.
