HOW YOU WILL BE TESTED

There will be two test formats in this course -- quizzes and examinations.

Quizzes

There will be a short quiz in each module.   Quizzes consist of two parts.  First is a written part, with 15 multiple choice questions.  The second part will be a laboratory examination and will consist of identifying 20 structures pinned or tagged on cadavers, bones and X-rays.  Quizzes are usually graded and returned the following day.

The questions on the quizzes will be of the same nature and degree of difficulty as those given on the examination at the end of each module.  The laboratory exam will cover all dissections which should have been completed by the time it is administered.

Quizzes are important because they give you an idea of the nature and degree of difficulty of the questions on the examination for each module.  They are also designed to encourage you to pace your learning properly instead of waiting until the end of the module before beginning to study in earnest -- a tactic which experience indicates can seriously imperil a student's chances of successfully completing the course.

Examinations

There will be an examination at the end of each module.  It will consist of two parts -- a written one consisting of 50 multiple choice questions and a practical one consisting of the identification of approximately 65 structures pinned or tagged on cadavers, bones, models and X-rays.

HBA 540: The final examination is cumulative and will contain questions pertaining to all material covered throughout the entire course.  Approximately 75% of the final exam will come from module three.  Twenty-five percent module of the final exam will cover material from modules one and two.

How Your Final Grades Will Be Computed

Your final gradewill be determined by the three examinations, and quiz (#4) following the clinical anatomy lectures and dissections.

** Dissection follows different sequence from textbook reading. The dissector has a strictly regional organization, whereas the textbook sometimes presents systems. Readings are therefore occasionally out of sync.

Please read all lab assignments and text assignments prior to class period
