Principal Investigator Dorothy Lane, MD, MPH
Co-Principal Investigator Iris Granek, MD, MS

“Fat reduction, HRT Use and Benign Breast Disease Risk” is another ancillary study of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) clinical trials that is studying the effect of the interventions of low-fat diet, HRT use and calcium/vitamin D use on the risk of benign breast disease (BBD).  One model of the natural history of breast cancer is that it arises as a result of the progression of breast tissue through specific histological forms of BBD.
