Mission Statement

The Practitioners of New York Spine and Brain Surgery are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service and respect to our patients. We believe the patient always comes first. We will keep in close contact with referring providers via personal and written means to insure that the patients care is to the highest standard by all involved. We care for all people regardless of their social or financial status. Keeping to these high standards is what makes our group successful in patient care.



The Practice

New York Spine and Brain Surgery at Stony Brook University Medical Center has been in existence for over 15 years. The Neurosurgical faculty includes: Dr. Raphael Davis, Dr. Michael Egnor, Dr. Robert Galler, Dr. Frederick Gutman, Dr. Arthur Rosiello, and Dr. Henry Woo. Dr. Woo is the Director of the Cerebrovascular Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Dr. Michael Egnor is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery and is the only Board Certified Pediatric Neurosurgeon in Suffolk County. We also have a Board Certified Physiatrist, Dr. Jonathan Raanan, who is a specialist in treating back and joint pain. Our faculty is complimented with 9 Physician Assistants and 7 Nurse Practitioners, all of whom put patient care first.

We currently have 2 outpatient offices in Suffolk County on Long Island - one in East Setauket and the other in Riverhead.

We are affiliated with Stony Brook University Hospital, St. Charles Hospital, John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, and Peconic Bay Medical Center making it easy for our patients to have care provided close to home. Currently we perform surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center and St. Charles Hospital.

We collectively have over 120 years of experience and have performed over 15,000 Neurosurgical procedures. We perform both Brain Surgery and Spine Surgery. The neurosurgeons provide emergency coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We see an average of 7000 patient visits per year in our outpatient offices.

We provide the referring physician with an initial report as well as follow up reports each time a patient is seen in our office.

We strive to provide the patient with the highest level of care possible and provide the referring physician with the information needed to do the same.
