The Divisions of Hematology and Medical Oncology merged in 2004 to create the Division of Hematology/Oncology, headed by Ted Gabig.  Division oncologists also have close ties with the Long Island Cancer Center, under the direction of John S. Kovach, M.D.

Students and Trainees

Postdoctoral trainees include clinical fellows in Hematology/Oncology and Cardiology, and postdoctoral trainees supported on research grants.
Graduates include graduate students in graduate programs in the life sciences, MD/PhD students, and medical students who have elected to do research in their 1st and 4th years towards the MD with Distinction in Research.
Undergraduates learn research methods in laboratory-research courses in Stony Brook's URECA program (Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity) and department research course offerings in life and health sciences.

Staff

The Division employs office and clinic support staff.  A number of technical-support staff are also employed on research grants.
